As Dublin’s disco diva, Mother, turns seven, we caught up with the Mother team to talk us through some of the standout moments from Mother herstory.
Although the venue might have changed since it’s launch in 2010, the spirit of Mother remains the same, with an emphasis on delivering the best disco music with a funky vibe to the most amazing Mother regulars and newbies alike.
From chilling with Grace Jones in the Olympia to writhing around on the floor real ‘Slow’ in Copper Alley, these incredible moments will be sure to resurface some incredible memories.
Check out the seven most Memorable Mother Moments below.
1. Grace Jones
Supporting Grace Jones in the Olympia. Because wow!
2. The Yes Vote
May 23, 2015. It was euphoric. Our referendum ‘We Are Family’ celebratory gig in the Tivoli. (Which subsequently turned into our annual ‘Yestival’ party)
3. Kylie – Slow
When the Mother DJs dropped Kylie ‘Slow’ and the ENTIRE club dropped to the floor in a domino effect re creating the music video, writhing around in a kylified orgy. It was a spectacle to behold. The bar staff & security hadn’t a clue what was happening.
4. Moving Day
Launch night at our new venue, the Hub. It was magical and such an honour to see that our crowd had followed us to our new space.
Every time Stand on the Word played. Every single time.
6. Festival Sets
The first time the entire Mother crew, covered in sequins closed the night by dancing on stage, on the decks and with the crowd.
7. We Are Family
You can celebrate Mother’s seventh birthday this weekend from 11pm on Saturday 10 June, 2017 in Mother, The Hub, Eustace St, Dublin 2.
