Taylor Swift Gives Ruby Rose A Big Surprise

Pop queen Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance at the GLAAD Awards in LA last weekend, to present a gong to her buddy, Ruby Rose. And Ruby was bowled over.

Orange is The New Black actress Ruby Rose was honoured at the 27th annual GLAAD awards ceremony, when she received the Stephen F Kolzak award, which recognises an LGBT media professional for promoting “equality and acceptance”.

But that wasn’t the only honour. Rose was completely bowled over to be presented the award by Taylor Swift, Swift, who described her as a “force of nature” who “tells the world that no one can judge us and no one can stop us …

“She is a woman of many talents. She is my friend,” Swift added, before a jubilant Rose came to the stage to accept the award.

Rose was honoured for her work playing lesbian prisoner Stella Carlin on OITNB, as well as for her support for marriage equality, youth mental health, women’s rights and animal welfare.

Identifying as lesbian and gender fluid, she encouraged a wider understanding of gender identities outside the traditional binary, the global lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organisation, Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said.

We’re thrilled for Ruby, especially after reading this powerful essay she wrote on living with depression. She’s a survivor, she’s not gon give up!
