Limerick Pride have announced that their next Grand Marshal will be TENI’s Chief Executive, Broden Giambrone. This announcement marks the first time that a trans person will be Limerick Pride’s Grand Marshal.

Broden Giambrone, originally from Canada, expressed that it was “an honour and privilege to be the first trans grand marshal of Limerick Pride.”

Broden holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Toronto and has been the Chief Executive of TENI for almost six years.

Inclusiveness

“I believe that this will put a spotlight on the trans community and the inclusiveness of the LGBTI community,” said Broden.

“It is an opportunity to show the diversity of the LGBTI community and is very positive in terms of visibility for the transgender community.”

Pride

Limerick Pride Chairperson Lisa Daly said: “We want to welcome everyone to join us in celebrating LGBTI culture in Limerick and show Limerick for the truly open and accepting city that she is.”

Daly continued saying that Pride this year would “build on the success and positive energy of previous years, promoting community spirit, community engagement and celebration.”

Limerick Pride will take place this year from 11-17 July, with a trans workshop taking place on Tuesday 12 July between 1-4pm in Stokers (free of charge). To sign up for a place, contact Eddie Mooney at Stoker’s Bar on 087 336 2288.
