Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow gave fans a little of what they’ve been asking for last night when they staged a mini-Friends reunion on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

You’re not Ross!: Kimmel ‘killed off’ the male cast

Aniston was a guest on the talk show, when Kimmel told the 45 year-old actress that he was a big fan of the ’90s sitcom that she made her name with, admitting that he’d love to act out some of the fan fiction he’d written with her.

Cut to Aniston on a replica set of Rachel and Monica’s apartment – which Kimmel joked cost $80,000 to make – acting out a cringe-inducing scene with ‘Ross’ played by Kimmel instead of David Schwimmer. Aniston muddled through, but refused to wear the ‘Rachel’ wig he pulled from the freezer, saying “I have boundaries, Jimmy!”

He later told, after Kudrow and Cox joined in on the fun, that the three male characters of the show were dead, “Marcel the monkey bit them and gave them monkey rabies and they died – now can everyone please try acting like you’ve been on a TV set before and read the lines”, humorously adding “This isn’t some kind of improv camp!”

The surprise is believed to be a tie-in with next month’s 20th anniversary of the hit NBC show’s premiere. Also marking the occasion, there will be a pop-up replica of the Central Perk coffee shop in Manhattan next month, which will serve free coffee and feature appearances from ‘Gunther’, the coffee shop’s lung-suffering barista.

Aniston: Still flawless 20 years later

Fans hoping for a more realistic reunion are likely to be disappointed, at least for now – while all three female cast mates were pictured having dinner together last month, the actors schedules appear to be too full at this time.

Cox recently told David Letterman that a reunion would be “impossible”, as getting the cast together in one room is too difficult. “Let me tell you something, there’s six ‘friends’ and I’ve been trying to put together a cast dinner for 10 years. It doesn’t happen!”, the 50 year-old actress told.

“I can get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry”, the 50 year-old Cougar Town actress said, adding “Matt LeBlanc cancelled last time right at the last minute, Schwimmer lives here [New York City], so it’s just not gonna happen”.
