Singer-songwriter, Rufus Wainwright, returns to Ireland for an intimate gig at Sligo’s Knocknarea Arena on Friday night, 23 October – and we have two tickets to give away!

 

Sligo Live is proud to present a concert by Rufus Wainwright, with special guests The Whileaways.

Wainwright has established himself as one of the great male vocalists and songwriters of his generation. The all-seated solo concert in Sligo’s Knocknarea Arena will headline Friday night, 23 October, at Sligo Live.

The prodigiously talented Wainwright, born in 1973 in New York and Montreal-raised, had his first piano lesson at the age of six, and at 13 he appeared in the McGarrigle Sisters band with his mother, sister and aunt. At 14 he was awarded Canada’s best young musician and later on he received Juno Awards for Best Alternative Album. He has released seven studio albums, three DVDs, and three live albums. His live album Rufus does Judy recorded at Carnegie Hall in 2006 was nominated for a Grammy and the album Release The Stars which went Gold in Canada and the U.K..

Musically Rufus has collaborated with artists including Elton John, David Byrne, Boy George, Joni Mitchell, Pet Shop Boys, Burt Bacharach, Robbie Williams and producer Mark Ronson.
