X Factor winner James Arthur, who was caught in a controversy over using homophobic language, has vowed to make a commitment to a leading LGBT rights charity.

Following a highly publicised row over the use of homophobic language, James Arthur has now said he would like to make a long term commitment to LGBT rights charity Stonewall UK.

He tweeted,

James Arthur was heavily criticised for using homophobic language in a diss track aimed at rapper Micky Worthless. In his lyrics he was slated for saying, “You fucking queer. Hilarious, precarious you Talibani confused, imbellic mimic of a gimmick.”

Comedian Matt Lucas was the first to take fire at the singer, saying “Fuck you @JamesArthur23 for using the phrase ‘fucking queer’ in your latest track. Fuck you.” Arthur swiftly apologised for his words, saying that he was “extremely disappointed” in himself.

Arthur shot himself in the foot again after fellow X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan posted screen grabs of a private text message conversation between the two, in which he takes digs at her for being a gay rights activist.
