If you’re anything like us, you have a Heartstopper hangover and can’t wait for the next LGBTQ+ series to drop. Not to fret – we’ve rounded up the best upcoming queer TV shows that will be sure to satisfy your cravings, with a host of heartwarming storylines to look forward to.
First Kill
This Netflix adaptation of Victoria Schwab’s First Kill tells us about the queer love story that develops between Juliette (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Calliope (Imani Lewis) after meeting in high school. The catch? Juliette is a vampire and Calliope is a vampire hunter. Think Killing Eve mixed with Twilight.
This blood-thirsty teen romance is set to release on June 10 and we can’t wait to indulge in a sapphic supernatural binge-watching session.
Dead End: Paranormal Park

For fans of the supernatural who are looking for something a little cuter than flesh-eating vampires, this new cartoon series dropping on Netflix has you covered! The show’s protagonist is a trans teenager named Barney who, alongside friends Norma and Pugsley (and a few demonic entities), addresses important issues with identity and growing up.
This heart-warming tv show promises queer representation for older kids and adults alike. It’s available to stream on June 16.
Queer as Folk
With the trailer launched last week, the reboot of Queer as Folk has already garnered quite the buzz. Following in the footsteps of its American and British predecessors, this new season challenges contemporary queer issues and incorporates an inclusive line-up of representation.
The show will follow a diverse group of friends in New Orleans who mirror the spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities after they come together following what is a seemingly homophobic attack.
Conversations with Friends
Sad queers, this one is for you. The Hulu adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Conversations with Friends follows twenty-something-year-old Francis and Bobby, ex-girlfriends who now perform poetry together. While that may sound like a consulted stereotype, Conversations provides a sensitive exploration into the complicated nature of queer friendships and navigating bisexuality.
It is currently showing on RTÉ every Wednesday or available to stream in full on Hulu.
A League of Their Own
Another queer adaptation is coming back in 2022! This period drama takes place during World War II and is based on the 1992 movie of the same name. With queerness and intersectionality at its heart, A League of Their Own wants to “tell a complicated story with a lot of layers, but one with a joy at its core.”
While no release date on Amazon Prime has been set, we can’t wait to see what delights co-creators Abbi Jacobson and Will Graham have in store for us!
Power Rangers
The Death Ranger's pronouns are they/them, as is the case with their entire race, but otherwise, yes, appropriate response. https://t.co/InZ0zvTRTP
