Andrew Scott, the celebrated Irish actor and star of All of Us Strangers, has been revealed as the cover star for Diaries 99 magazine’s latest issue – and the photos did not disappoint! The stunning shoot, lensed by photographer Bartek Szmigulski, showcases Andrew Scott in an array of leather looks from top designers like Alexander McQueen and Dsquared2.

Fans have been raving over the images, which were shared by the magazine’s Instagram account on Tuesday, September 24. In one of the most talked-about photos, Andrew Scott appears topless, except of course for a leather harness.

Growing up in Ireland when homosexuality was still criminalised, Scott faced challenges, and when he publicly came out in 2013, same-sex marriage was not yet legal. In a past interview with GCN, Scott shared how liberating it has been to move past feelings of shame and embrace his true self.

“I’m very comfortable and free now,” he said, though he acknowledged that part of his acting career has involved revisiting moments from a time when that freedom wasn’t as readily available.

In a separate interview with Attitude, Scott, now 47, spoke openly about his joy in being gay, expressing how central it has been to his life.

“I suppose I just enjoy being gay so much on so many levels. I think it’s such a wonderful thing to me,” he said. He further reflected on how, as he has grown older, he feels increasingly fortunate to have been born gay, noting his close and lasting friendships with others in the queer community.

Scott’s openness and his undeniable talent continue to inspire both his fans and his fellow artists, making his Diaries 99 cover all the more powerful as a statement of self-expression and individuality.
