The Oscars aired last night, with the milky-white creme de la creme of Hollywood in attendance.

The most likely winners in the Oscars acting categories got what was expected, however, The Imitation Game lost out in every category except Adapted Screenplay. Graham Moore, the screenwriter for The Imitation Game, made an impassioned speech about bullying, depression and suicide – moving the audience with an admittance of his own suicide attempt.

“I tried to commit suicide at 16 and now I’m standing here. I would like for this moment to be for that kid out there who feels like she doesn’t fit in anywhere. You do. Stay weird. Stay different, and then when it’s your turn and you are standing on this stage please pass the same message along.”

The Lego Movie‘s Everything is Awesome lost out on Best Original Song, performed by Tegan and Sara.

Presenter Neil Patrick Harris made a joke of the snub of insanely popular The Lego Movie: “[Before introducing the nominees for best-animated film] If you’re at the awards party with the guys who made The Lego Movie, now would be a good time to distract them.”
