This Halloween, Dublin is celebrating everything vampiric and macabre with the Bram Stoker Festival from 23 – 26 of October. We compile our favourite events from their gothically inspired programme.

Paying homage to the Dublin born writer of Dracula, the festival hosts a diverse programme of eerie events through out the city starting this Friday.

NEW BLOOD

A “hedonistic vampiric party” with a deadly line-up of electro-acts taking over four spaces in Dublin’s Project Arts Centre; theatre, club, gallery and bar.

The theme? Futuristic vampire. Interpret that as you may, but dress-up is essential!

2. SOUNDINGS Holy Trinity

Soundings Podcast presents the Holy Trinity at St Patrick’s Cathedral on Saturday, October 24. Hosts Dylan Haskins and Lisa Hannigan welcome Theo Dorgan, Amy Huberman and David Rawle (Moone Boy) for a special episode – with live musical guests Heathers.

3. ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Screening @ Light House Cinema

The 90s cult classic, written and directed by Joss Whedon. The feature length film which turns the helpless blonde Valley girl trope on it’s head, was the precursor for the TV show of the same name – and well, the rest is history…

4. HUSHED

A once in a lifetime chance to take a candlelit tour of one of Dublin’s most historic buildings. Walk the halls of Marsh’s library, where Bram Stoker himself would spend days researching myths, ghouls and the macabre for his iconic horror novel Dracula.

5. Maser

Dublin’s own Maser will construct his first ever, large-scale outdoor installation in his home city. The artist, known for his colourful, vibrant and pulsating murals and installations, will construct an interactive exhibit in Smithfield Square, inspired by the life and times of Bram Stoker and his novel Dracula
