“We’ve attempted to break down the ‘wall’ of white cube gallery spaces and make them more informal and accessible, and this exhibition has some really unique touches that we think lends to that.”
Founded in late-2015 by Greg Spring and Russell Simmons, the Hen’s Teeth is a Dublin-based creative agency and publication dedicated to commissioning, curating and selling limited edition prints by leading contemporary artists from all around the world.
Their mission is to create an affordable art market in Ireland by commissioning exclusive pieces from high profile Irish and international artists for reasonable prices. Pretty great, right?
In the past couple of years they have also run some successful exhibitions, including In Residence (Dublin 2016 – a selection of works presented in a home setting), Icons of Hip Hop (Dublin, 2016 & London, 2017 – a collection of photographer Eddie Otchere’s seminal 1990’s portraits) and Fantasy 12 (Dublin, 2016 – a reimagining of album artwork by some of the world’s best regarded record sleeve designers and artists).
Their new eclectic exhibition, called New Masters, celebrates ‘the bold and the brilliant’ and collects works by street artists, illustrators and photographers. This collection promises to be their most exciting show yet.
Greg Spring, founder of Hen’s Teeth and curator of the New Masters exhibition, says “Whether it’s street art, illustration or photography, each one of these artists is doing something truly special. We’re incredibly proud of this collection, we think it’s our best yet. With all of the Hen’s Teeth exhibitions so far, we’ve attempted to break down the ‘wall’ of white cube gallery spaces and make them more informal and accessible, and this exhibition has some really unique touches that we think lends to that.”
Artists included in the New Masters Exhibition are: Philadelphia-based artist and illustrator Armando Veve, the talented graffiti collective from Israel Broken Fingaz Crew, UK-based designer and illustrator Mason aka Joe Prytherch, British filmmaker and photographer Dan Sully, Brazilian illustrator and Art Director Marina Esmeraldo, UK-based artist and print designer Kelly Anna, Irish graphic art duo The Project Twins, Dublin-based illustrator Ruan Van Vliet and NYC-based director and photographerTim Saccenti.
