Also lined up to perform on the night, fresh from her hugely successful performance at Electric Picnic, is sister of The Coronas’ Danny O’Reilly and daughter of Mary Black, Róisín O.

Roisin O Ireland

Hosted by RTÉ 2fm ‘s Eoghan McDermott, the event is dedicated to the untold stories of those with mental illness related acquired brain injuries.

On average 450 people die by suicide every year in Ireland, and for every suicide, there are 25 attempts, which means about 12,000 people attempt suicide in Ireland alone every year, and LGBT+ people count among those numbers. The problem is that an unsuccessful suicide can often result in serious brain damage, which can affect people’s mobility, senses, ability to care for themselves and even their consciousness.

The fundraiser aims to open up a conversation about the unspoken consequences of suicide attempts. Guests will be taken on a remarkable journey where they will be asked to consider the issues involved with a bespoke performance art piece by queer playwright and spoken word artist, Vickey Curtis.

Delicate (T)Issue is at NoLIta on Dublin’s George’s Street on Friday September 15,  with complimentary food and drinks from 6pm to 10pm. Tickets are available here. If you are unable to attend, but would like to donate, click here
