Changing Attitude Ireland exists to promote love, understanding, and justice for all individuals, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, particularly within the Church of Ireland.

We aim to create an inclusive and affirming environment within the church family where LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples can express their faith and be fully accepted, loved and valued, participating without restriction in all aspects of the Church’s life.

We seek to engage with clergy, congregations, and church leaders, encouraging open dialogue, empathy, and a deep understanding of the diverse experiences and needs of LGBTQIA+ people. We are inspired by the life and teaching of Jesus Christ, who reached out to the marginalised of his society, and now challenges us to do likewise in our own time and culture, and so express the fullness of God’s acceptance and love.

Welcome and Open Congregations database

Changing Attitude Ireland maintains a database of Christian congregations which adhere to the following:

  1. We promote trust and understanding amongst heterosexual and LGBT+ parishioners.
  2. We seek to include LGBT+ people and their families at every level of parish life, welcoming not only their presence but all they have to offer.
  3. We do not make the assumption that everyone is heterosexual, whether in conversation, preaching, or in the prayers of the church.
  4. We are upfront in our welcome for LGBT+ people and same-sex couples.
  5. We recognise committed same-sex unions at social events, in church services and other aspects of Church life.
  6. We welcome clergy regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

You can view their database on their website, or contact Kris at [email protected] for more information.
