LGBT Ireland is a national support service for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people, and their families and friends.

It offers a comprehensive range of services which provide support and information on issues relating to sexuality and gender identity.

Support Line

Non-judgmental, confidential listening and support, is provided seven days a week through the telephone helpline 1800 929 539 and through their online instant messaging service. Their dedicated website provides a gateway to information and support throughout the country.

Peer Support Services

The peer support service established in 2014, offers opportunities for people to come together on a monthly basis, to provide emotional and practical support to each other around a common experience or situation. LGBT Ireland’s peer support groups include:

  • First Out for Gay/Bi Men – First Thursday of each month from 7pm-9pm via Zoom. To sign-up for this group, please email [email protected]
  • Married Women’s Group – Last Tuesday of the month from 7pm-9pm via Zoom. To sign-up for this group, please email [email protected]
  • Straight Spouses Group – 2nd Tuesday of each month
    from 7pm – 9pm via Zoom. To sign-up for this group, please email [email protected]
  • Is Rainbow Muid – For LGBTI+ people seeking International Protection in Ireland. Meets regularly in-person on Saturdays. To sign-up for this group, please email [email protected]

Telefriending

Telefriending is a great opportunity for older community members to connect with another person who identifies as LGBTI+ to share joy, laughter including mutual connection and support by telephone.

Volunteers are trained and garda vetted offering a confidential telephone call once per week.

Training

LGBT Ireland also delivers LGBT awareness training to other services and community groups, to enhance the support received by LGBT people accessing these services and groups.
