If you’re planning on going out this Halloween bank holiday weekend (instead of, say, going on a gay men’s retreat in the West of Ireland) there’s a tonne of events on that will leave you cackling while you commune with the dark side.

First up: Pyg/Powerscourt & Mother present A Nightmare on South William Street

Pygmalion & Mother have teamed up to present their very own Nightmare on South William St. We’re opening up Pygmalion and Powerscourt Townhouse for a special access all areas event.

The party will kick off at 4pm and as it’s a Bank Holiday Sunday we will have 40% off all drinks.

Mother DJs take over Powerscourt for what will be a blood-stained sequin ball. From their stages at Body & Soul / Electric Picnic to their weekly sold-out electronic disco clubnight these gays know how to throw a party.

This event is 20+ and if you’re old enough to get in there’s delicious two-for-one Pygtails and 40% off all drinks until 11pm.

Film Fatale’s Danse Macabre

“Beware this Halloween for the door between the living and the dead is opening for a night of unspeakable glamour. The beautiful and the damned will rise again for Film Fatale’s Danse Macabre, Ireland’s most decadent Halloween party…”

For one night only, Film Fatale will transform the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in to haunted house with a touch of the cirque du freak. There’ll be fiendish fan dancers, avante garde performers, aerialists who will tease on the trapeze as well as terrible beauties and blood-soaked burlesque.

Get down like the ghost of MJ at a Thriller dance class and then at the Thriller dance-off later in the night. There’s also live music and it’s all very fancy but we have been assured by organisers that someone will play Monster Mash, so it’s all good.

This is a vintage-themed event and strictly fancy-dress. “It is a night for the surrealists, the ghosts of Weimar, the masqueraders, the gothic goddesses, the vamps, the femme fatales, the steampunk princes, the vintage queens, the retro kings, the flappers, gangsters, the beautiful and the damned, the fantasists and the other-worldly.”

What: Danse Macabre Halloween Party

For more of a marzipan that a masquerade vibe, there’s the Lolly & Cooks Halloween Party at Herbert Park.

There will face painting, ‘scary’ cupcakes (presumably the calorific content), apple-bobbing, a mini pumpkin run and lots of other super-wholesome, family-friendly activities. Games, ghouls and ganache – what more do you want.

The cost is €15 per kid with 10% percent of proceeds going to Temple Street Children’s Hospital. Fancy dress is essential and prizes for best-dressed kids and adults, including private tennis lessons. Fancy! So dress fancy, okay?

Bukkake: October Bank Holiday

This Halloween Bank Holiday Bukkake is going to be ratcheted up a notch from last year’s since they’ve move to their “biggest venue yet”, Café en Seine.

But don’t let that extra space fool you. Every Bukkake night this year has sold out, so make sure to get your tickets in advance to avoid that ghoulish look on your face as you walk away disappointed!

Early Bird and Queue Jump tickets have already sold out, but General Admission tickets are still available here for €10 + fee.

With DJ Sean Ratchford joining resident DJs Paddy Scahill and Rafael Mafra, and Stephen Dowling in the pop room, there’s music to chill your blood no matter your tastes.

Bram Stoker Festival

Did you know Dracula was Irish? Well, sort of. Not really. But the author of Dracula, Abraham ‘Bram’ Stoker, sure was and that’s why there’s a ton of gothic-themed events happening across Dublin City this month.

From October 27-30 the city will play host to “4 days of living stories and 4 nights of deadly adventures” for the Bram Stoker Festival.

Among the delights on offer: Turning Vampire Mixtape in Vicar Street on October 29, a serious night of music, giggles and ghouls. This hi-octane night of songs and collaborations, celebrating all your favourite music from the best-known horror movies.

If terrifying theatre is more your bag then try Whitby, Smock Alley’s Boys School (October 27 – 30), a multi-layered performance piece which reimagines the power of Stoker’s gothic masterpiece by focusing on a relatively unknown section of the novel where the ship, the Demeter, brings Dracula from Romania to the port of Whitby.

There’s also a chance to catch a rare screening of 1932 French-German horror movie, Vampyr, in the spectacularly gothic surrounds of St Patrick’s Cathedral on October 27.

DADDi: Rocco Steele

Daddi, Dublin’s favourite club night for men who love “fur, fetish, fun and frolics” are hosting an extra-special Live Show this Halloween.

For one night only, porn star Rocco Steele will be hitting the stage at the Turk’s Head to frighten patrons with his monstrous genitals.

International DJ William Sizen Bell will be on hand to mix tunes and presumably be the butt of lots of puns on his name.
