Publicity-shy singer/songwriter, Sia, will perform her hit single Chandelier, backed by the NYC Gay Men’s Chorus at Logo TV’s first ever Trailblazers television special on June 26.
The Australian, who releases her long-awaited sixth album, 1000 Forms of Fear, on July 8, spoke about the event with MTV News, “I’m so happy to be taking part in the inaugural Trailblazers awards. I feel privileged to salute every person fighting for LGBT rights. Backed by the incomparable New York City Gay Men’s Chorus with the spectacular backdrop of The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, I’m excited to show you our inside animals!”
Other big names on the roster for the event include Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Jared Leto, Kylie Minogue and Michael Stipe formerly of REM, who will honour the Ugandan LGBT-rights activist John ‘Longjohns’ Abdallah Wambere as an International Trailblazer. Since homosexuality has been criminalised in his home country, Wambere is seeking asylum in the US, while continuing to advocate for LGBT rights.
The NYC Gay Men’s Chorus performed as part of The Big Gay Sing event at Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre last weekend.
The one-hour Trailblazers special honoring will premiere on June 26 at 9 p.m on Logo TV. Watch the Chandelier video below.
