Andy Cohen to Kevin Spacey: "Come Out, Sir"

Andy Cohen – best known for his work on The Real Housewives franchise – has seemingly tried to ‘out’ Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey.

Cohen has released his book The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look at a Shallow Year and written anecdotally about a meeting with Spacey at the U.S. Open men’s finals in 2009. “Kevin Spacey was in front of us with a face full of makeup and three male companions who were definitely NOT raising any questions.”

In another entry, Cohen wrote about a get-together with Neil Patrick Harris on his show. The two discussed Spacey’s sexual orientation at length.

“NPH and I talked about a lot of gay stuff, including debating Kevin Spacey; I still get enraged when I think about him talking about being in love with that woman on 60 Minutes. Come out, sir.”

Spacey, previously, has made comments about his private life, however, he has never made an explicit statement on his sexuality.

“[…] I don’t understand people who say, “Well, this is a terrible thing that is happening to this young person whose life is being exposed,” and then turn around and do it to another person. People have different reasons for the way they live their lives. You cannot put everyone’s reasons in the same box. It’s just a line I’ve never crossed and never will. … I don’t live a lie. You have to understand that people who choose not to discuss their personal lives are not living a lie. That is a presumption that people jump to.”

Though it is obviously wonderful when someone feels they are ready to announce their sexuality to others, attempting to drag an allegedly gay person out of the closet is disgusting and unneeded. Whether a person is gay or not is not the issue here, it is this continuous speculation over that person’s sexuality.

Also, Andy Cohen, attempting to out a person is not going to get you book sales.
