The Big Gay Sing, which took place on Sunday at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, raised over €35,000 for Marriage Equality – the largest single donation to the cause to date.

The world renowned New York City Gay Men’s Chorus, GLORIA DLGC and The Line Up and The Soulful brought their hugely successful Big Gay Sing to Dublin for one night only.

This spectacular all singing event, hosted by Panti, promised to be the biggest, gayest, and most fabulous singing extravaganza ever seen on these shores – and it did not disappoint!

“We are absolutely delighted with the success of the Big Gay Sing and so grateful to everyone who came along to support Marriage Equality,” said co-director of Marriage Equality, Moninne Griffith. “Not only did Big Gay Sing raise the biggest single donation for the cause, it brought together 2,000 supporters to celebrate how far we have come in Ireland and remind us that we still have work to do to achieve equality for lesbian and gay couples and families.

“We would like to thank everyone in The Big Gay Sing, Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, the fabulous Miss Panti who MC’ed the event and the four choirs who took part for making this fabulous event possible and reminding us that Irish people really do want marriage equality and that it’s time to change the law to catch up with public opinion.”
