Clare Pride is making a vibrant return in 2024 with a three-day celebration from Friday, September 20 to Sunday, September 22. Embracing the theme ‘Stronger Together’, this year’s Pride seeks to unite the community through a series of engaging events, performances, and gatherings. Organised by QuareClare, a community-driven group founded in 2020, the event promises a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for LGBTQ+ individuals and allies.

QuareClare began as a social network with the mission of fostering a supportive environment for LGBTQ+ people in Clare. Throughout the year, the group hosts various social events across the county, while also actively participating in other Pride movements and events across Ireland. By organising day trips to Pride celebrations nationwide, QuareClare strengthens connections within the community and extends support to other organisations.

The Clare Pride 2024 weekend kicks off on Friday, September 20, at 8pm with an evening of queer poetry at Glór. This event requires pre-registration, with tickets set to go on sale soon.

On Saturday, September 21, the festivities continue with the annual Pride march starting at 12pm on Parnell Street between Wood Quay and Carmody Street. Participants will march to Glór, where a family-friendly day will follow in the venue’s foyer. Attendees can enjoy live music, performances by local artists, and a variety of stalls offering entertainment for all ages.

Later that evening, The Market Bar will host a lively night of drag performances, singing, music, and dancing starting at 9pm.

The celebration wraps up on Sunday, September 22, with a film screening of LGBTQ+ documentaries at Glór beginning at 2pm.

Talking to Claire Live, Chairperson of QuareClare Bernie O’Gorman, commented: “Clare Pride 2024 promises to be a memorable and impactful celebration, uniting people from all walks of life in the spirit of love, acceptance, and solidarity”.

O’Gorman additionally shared her excitement, saying: “This is going to be a brilliant fun weekend for Clare’s LGBTQIA+ community and for people who we hope will travel from around Ireland to be with us this weekend. We want our community to be visible and connected to the wider community in Clare.”

Clare Pride 2024 is set to bring the community together in a vibrant celebration of diversity and inclusion. To take part in the parade, a centrepiece of this year’s Pride, register your group’s interest through QuareClare here.
