A secret gay romance behind the scenes on The X Factor, a Xmas decoration-loving mother trolls her homophobic neighbour with 10,000 rainbow coloured lights, some Hong Kong authorities still recommending gay conversion therapy, Cristiano Ronaldo faces more anti-gay chanting from fans  – all in today’s Cuppán Gay.

  • A secret gay romance is blossoming behind the scenes on the X Factor, according to the tabloids. A source told the Daily Mirror: “They became pals throughout Boot Camp, but they only got together when they made it to the live shows. Their families and friends know they are an item, but they’ve kept it a secret from viewers. Their fans have no idea they are a couple. Both get a lot of tweets from fans, but they just aren’t interested.” (Daily Mirror)

  • And more LGBT content from the X Factor: Saara Alto, one of the three remaining acts has spoken out about being in the closet before coming out in her native Finland. “It was so stupid. I was taking selfies and always pretending I was by myself when of course I had my girlfriend next to me.” (Daily Star)

  • A US woman makes headlines for trolling her anti-gay neighbour with thousands of rainbow coloured Christmas lights. “Since regular aggression leads to assault charges, I went with passive aggression,” Lexi Magnusson wrote on Facebook (Buzzfeed)

  • Social workers in Hong Kong are still recommending gay conversion therapy (which includes electro shock treatment) to vulnerable LGBT youths, charities in the city claim. (Pink News)

  • Real Madrid Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo faced more homophobic abuse during a match against Barcelona at the weekend. However, rival fans who chanted “Cristiano come out of the closet” may have earned their club fines from La Liga for their actions. (New Now Next)
