BBC censor Gaga’s LGBT lyrics, Gaga nominated for British LGBT Awards, FIFA’s anti-discrimination rules challenged and more: the biggest international LGBT stories in today’s Cuppán Gay

• Prince William and Lady Gaga are nominated for British LGBT Awards. The two public figures were nominated for the 2017 NatWest British LGBT Awards which “features inspirational people who have and continue to use their platform to promote and enhance LGBT rights all over the world” on their shortlist. • Over 10,000 people back campaign to save HIV charity in the UK. Funding cuts from the government could mean that The Sussex Beacon HIV charity could close by June 2017. The service costs £2 million to run annually but was given an ‘outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission. (Pink News)

• BBC receives complaints that the LGBT lyrics from Born This Way were removed from Let It Shine. However a spokesperson for the show said that “all songs featured on the show were cut for time only.” Commentators on Twitter noted that removing LGBT lyrics from the song removes its meaning & power. • Zambia fights back against FIFA sexual orientation anti-discrimination rules. The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) may object to the rules owing to the strong Christian ties in the country. Masha Chilemena, a former FAZ executive committee member, said: “Zambia is a Christian nation and any instructions from FIFA which will conflict with Christianity are not welcome.” (Pink News)

• Tanzania announces plans to publish a list of gay people who allegedly sell sex online. This comes days after dozens of AIDS clinics were shut down as they were accused of promoting homosexuality. “I will publish a list of gay people selling their bodies online […] The government has long arms and it will arrest all those involved quietly,” wrote Health Minister Hamisi Kigwangalla. • India censor crucial scenes from Moonlight. The film has been censored removing huge chunks of the film, including the beach scene which ends in a sexual encounter between two men and another scene which features sex between a man and a woman. Also removed from the film was any profanity, which impacts the first act of the film. (Attitude)
