- Fadi Fawaz, George Michael’s lover, has had his Twitter account hacked and closed. A series of tweets from Fawaz’s account alleged that George Michael took his own life on Christmas day after several unsuccessful attempts in the past. “I did not send those tweets,” Fawaz said. (Towleroad)
- Mariah Carey’s NYE performance was marred with technical glitches which saw the artist not sing. A malfunctioning earpiece caused Mariah Carey to cut her performance short at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest. - A trans man in China won a landmark case against his wrongful dismissal. Chen was illegally fired after a week working at a medical clinic in south-west China, a court ruled. The man was awarded a month’s salary for the dismissal. (The Guardian)
- A petition to stop gospel singer Kim Burrell from performing with Pharrell Williams on the Ellen DeGeneres Show has been made owing to her calling LGBT people “perverted”. The star of upcoming movie Hidden Figures said in a viral sermon: “That sin nature, that perverted homosexual spirit is the spirit of delusion and confusion and it has cast a stain on the body of Christ.” (Change)
