Ellen Degeneres took a moment in her monologue to commend Bruce Jenner for coming out as transgender – and blasts critics for “immature” comments.

As always, Ellen makes a few wise cracks, but her message to the former Olympian was heartfelt.

She said, “Even if you don’t understand it, and I’m sure there are a lot of people who don’t understand it, you have to admire someone who is willing to risk ridicule and tell the truth. It’s so much easier to live your life keeping a secret because we all want to fit in.”
