SUMMARY:CoDependents Anonymous Ireland
DESCRIPTION:What is CoDependence?\nBeginning our journey… Perhaps some of these thoughts are yours… \n    “ If he/she changed\, everything would be alright.” \n    “I can’t control this pain\, these people and what’s happening.” \n    “It’s all my fault.” \n    “I keep getting into the same bad relationships.” \n    “ I feel so empty and lost.” \n    “Who am I. “ \n    “What’s wrong with me?” \nOur sadness and loss bring us here. We want change\, and we want it now. We want to escape our misery. We want to feel good about ourselves and live abundant\, fulfilling lives. We want happy\, healthy relationships. \nIf any of the preceding thoughts are yours\, then you’re not alone. Many of us in the Fellowship of Co-Dependents Anonymous have felt deep sadness\, anxiety\, despair\, and depression and have turned here – to each other and a Higher Power – for our sanity to be restored. \nWhat brings us here may be a crisis such as divorce\, separation\, imprisonment\, health problems or attempt at suicide. Some of us are feeling weary\, desperate or devastated. \nIf you’re new to recovery\, this moment may not seem like something to remember\, but someday you might consider it a celebration. Many of us find our pain to be a gift\, for without these feelings of emptiness and despair\, we can’t experience a real desire to change our lives. Without this desire\, many of us know we won’t make the decision to change. We want balance\, happiness and peace\, but to change\, we must acknowledge these feelings and decide to climb out of this pit of pain. \nOnce we make this decision\, many of us ask\, “How do  go about this change? Where can I get help? At first\, many of us think we can solve our problems by just trying harder or by studying techniques to change people. Often our pride or upbringing cause us to think that we can do this ourselves. These two approaches\, however\, block our road to a better way of life. \nIt all begins with an honest look at ourselves. \nWe welcome you to Co-Dependents Anonymous\, a program of recovery from co-dependence\, where each of us may share our experience\, strength and hope in our efforts to find freedom where there has been bondage\, and peace where there has been turmoil\, in our relationships with others and ourselves. \nMeeting Locations & Times:\nDublin\nWednesdays 8.15pm \n“YPOD” Room\, Carmelite Community Centre\, Aungier St.\, Dublin 2 (Entrance is off Longford Street Little. Go down through the car park and building is on the right hand side. The “YPOD” room is at the back of the building.) \nFridays 8.15pm \nRoom 14\, Carmelite Community Centre\, Aungier St.\, Dublin 2 \n

SUMMARY:The Dublin Gay Music Group
DESCRIPTION:About the Dublin Gay Music Group\nWelcome to the home of the Dublin Gay Music Group. We are a group of gay men of all ages who meet each Saturday (13:00-15:30) to enjoy classical music on CD and DVD. Whereas the focus is primarily on listening/viewing\, there is ample opportunity to talk about musical likes and dislikes and this often leads to lively and informative discussions on the music\, composers and performers. \nThe format of our meetings is simple: each visitor brings a contribution from his own music collection on CD or DVD\, typically 10-15 minutes long. As our meetings rotate among members’ homes\, the host of the day acts as DJ and decides the order of play. The session concludes with one member presenting a 30-minute programme which may be a single favourite work or a mini-concert of shorter pieces. This formula results in members getting to hear a great variety of music both familiar and unfamiliar. \nThe social dimension frequently sees members linking up to attend concerts or opera in Dublin\, and sometimes outside the capital. A Group trip abroad to experience the great orchestras and opera houses of Europe has now become an established part of spring activities. Paris (2001)\, Berlin (2002)\, Vienna (2003)\, Prague (2004)\, Munich (2005)\, Dresden & Leipzig (2006)\, Budapest (2007)\, Zürich (2008) and New York (2009\, a very select couple of members) are the cities so far visited. We returned to Berlin in 2010\, went to Vienna for a second time in 2011\, and went to the Rhine Valley (Freiburg and Baden-Baden) the following year. We went back to Berlin this year (our third time there) and are considering a return to Paris in 2015\, the city where it all began. \nYou don’t have to be a musical scholar to be a part of things. We get together simply because we enjoy listening to music\, and there’s nothing stuffy or academic about it. Stated simply\, we love music\, and our emphasis is on sharing and enjoying classical music with other like-minded guys. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Film Qlub
DESCRIPTION:What is the Dublin Film Qlub? \n\nThe Dublin Film Qlub is a special interest film club\, catering for film-lovers in Dublin. We show one selected film every month\, as part of a series of themed seasons (each season consists of ten films). What all our films have in common is that they are of interest to the gay\, lesbian\, bisexual\, and transgender community\, that they are of a very good quality\, and\, in some cases\, that they have a remarkable documentary value. Our aim is to select films that are arty\, sexy\, and committed. \n  \nWhere are the films shown? The films are shown in a city centre location\, the New Theatre (two doors down from The Project Theatre) in East Essex street\, Temple Bar\, Dublin2. This is a cosy and gay-friendly venue\, and it is fully wheelchair accessible. \n \nWhat is a film club? A Film Club is a club offering a regular programme of screenings throughout the year\, attended by a group of people who have paid membership to the club. There are over 70 film clubs in Ireland. The Dublin Film Qlub is part of this network. \n  \nIs the Film Qlub just a screening?  \nThe Film Qlub sessions are more than just a screening. There is a social side to the club\, as well as an educational side\, and you also get a chance to share your views. Before the film\, there will be a brief introduction giving details about the director and the context of the film. After the screening\, there will be an open discussion about the film for 10-15 minutes\, depending on the duration of the movie. Free tea\, coffee\, and cake will be available for those in attendance.  \nAre there screenings for special interest groups? At the Dublin Film Qlub\, we make every effort to be as inclusive as possible\, and to honour the diversity of the LGBTQ community\, and we keep this in mind when we devise the programme. We are particularly aware of the difficulties in sourcing lesbian films\, and are working towards achieving a 50/50 ratio of films reflecting both lesbian and gay experience. \nSome of the screenings in our first season will be of particular interest to trans people\, older LGBT\, bisexuals\, young adult LGBT\, gender-bender lesbians\, and anti-authoritarian queers. Because of the characteristics of our first season (see below)\, the deaf LGBT community may be particularly interested in attending the screenings. \n We endeavour to screen little known films\, or films rarely shown in cinemas\, so our club will be of particular interest to students of film\, or to people who want to learn more about the history of cinema and its latest developments. Our programme is designed to appeal to anyone with an interest in film as an art form. \n  \nWho can join?  \nAnyone can join the Film Qlub. The films are of special interest to the LGBTQ community\, but if you support our community you are most welcome\, regardless of your sexual orientation. \n  \nHow do I join?  \nTo join\, you must get a membership for the season. You can get your club membership at the door on the day of the first screening\, or at any other screening in the first half of the season. If you wish\, you can pre-book your membership by contacting our email address. There are three types of membership at the Film Qlub: \n– Full Membership (aka “Grand”): 10 films = all the films in one Season \n– Partial Membership (aka “Circle”): 5 films \n– Day membership: 1 film \n  \nWho are the organisers?  \nThe organisers come from a variety of backgrounds\, from academia\, to the film industry\, to financial management. They work in the Film Qlub on a voluntary capacity. They have experience organising similar community events\, and they were part of the team which brought you the Dublin Lookout LGBTQ Film Festival in 2006. Some of the organisers are founding members of the Brain Fog Collective\, a not-for-profit arts collective with a particular interest in gay and lesbian film making. \n\n
