TV3 have announced that Maria Walsh will be co-host of this years TV3 Christmas Toy Show, alongside Irish presenter Brian Ormond.
The 2014 Rose of Tralee winner Maria Walsh is set to take part in the Christmas Toy Show – TV3’s rival to RTÉ’s long-running Late Late Toy Show. Walsh made headlines last year when she became the first openly lesbian Rose of Tralee in the organisation’s history.
“This is a really exciting opportunity for me. I’ve always dreamed of being a part of a toy show,” she said.
“When TV3 approached me I was over the moon and I just thought this was right up my alley and something I could bring a lot of energy to and have loads of fun in the process. I love everything about Christmas and the magic it brings to children; I’m really looking forward to playing with all the kids and toys!”
The 90 minute programme will include performances from young Irish talent – showcasing music, dance and variety acts.
A TV3 spokeswoman said it will be aiming to beat last years viewing figures which reached over 1.1 million viewers.
You can catch the TV3 Toy Show at 9PM on Friday, November 20.
