Gay Dads and Children Star in Nikon Camera Ad

Two gay dads and their three children are to star in a commercial for Nikon’s new camera after the family went viral last year when they posted their picture to Instagram.

Kordale and Kaleb Lewis showed themselves doing their daughters’ hair before school one morning and following the picture’s publication, it became insanely popular.

Though there were negative and positive reactions, the men didn’t take it to heart – they were just performing a morning ritual, like every other morning.

“Being gay is the new normal for a lot of people and judgement isn’t needed, just equality! We may be gay but this does not mean we are incapable of what a heterosexual couple is capable of! Us gays are just as educated and passionate about what we do and how we do it!”

The two men and their three children are now starring in the Nikon commercial as part of their I Am Generation Image and the men speak about their experience after the image went viral. They show snippets of their lives in the short film.

“The routine basically is that we get up at 5.30 and eat breakfast and then we do our daughter’s hair. Parents that can get up at 5.30 and do their daughter’s hair, no matter who they are, that’s a family. We pick out their clothes for them and then we kiss them goodbye, and that’s typically what we do in the morning.”

The men’s Instagram is filled with pictures of their children, of whom they share custody with the children’s mother, so they hope that their new camera will come in handy for future photographic instances.

“I can’t sit here and explain to you in words why we feel the way we feel for our children, but those are our kids and no-one else can tell me anything different.”
