Homegrown hero, Hozier, stepped into BBC Live Lounge to do a cover of Sam Smith’s gay rights anthem ‘Lay Me Down’.
Lay Me Down was released earlier this year alongside a tearjerking video with a pro-marriage equality message. The usually down tempo ballad was livened up by Mr. Hozier-Byrne, who did his own up-beat rendition with a catchy bass hook.
The cover was miles away from the original, but Sam Smith seemed to be happy with it…
Brother @Hozier – fucking love the Live Lounge cover!!!! Anything you sing makes me heart jump xx Big kisses sir xx

Hozier responded,
