Wyvern Lingo, Hozier, Little Green Cars and a host of others have all appeared in a heart-breaking appeal for the 10,000 Missing Children Campaign.
The appeal is the brain-child of Bray Refugee Solidarity group, who were inspired by a Guardian article about the staggering number of refugee children who have gone missing since arriving in Europe. Many are feared to be the victim of people trafficking.
The group have set up a petition urging the Justice and Home Affairs Council of the European Union to take “immediate action to protect this most vulnerable group of people.”
The full petition reads: “Children as young as six are travelling alone in Europe. They have fled war and famine, witnessed the bloody murder of family and friends. They have sailed past the floating dead bodies of their fellow country men, women and children in the Mediterranean. We believe that when they reach European shores, they should be guaranteed safety, and protection of their basic rights.
Yet 10,000 of these children are currently missing in Europe – many trafficked into sex slavery and other forms of exploitation. Tens of thousands more are at risk of a similar fate.
We demand that the EU takes immediate action to protect this most vulnerable group of people.
Are you with us?”
