Legendary Gay Olympian Diver Tackles Homophobia In Sports At Dublin Event

Greg Louganis

Olympic Champion Greg Louganis, and Irish Olympian Gearoid Towey, will talk about combating homophobia and transphobia in sports this Friday in Dublin.

In 2014, a survey called ‘Out in The Fields’ showed that 80% of LGBT sportspeople experienced some form of homophobic abuse, and homophobia and transphobia are still present within many sporting communities from grass roots to the Olympic Games.

The Crossing the Line summit Think Tank at Trinity College this Friday (May 27) will be an open conversation with the aim of preventing alienation, bullying and the often resulting self-destructive acts that exist for many within the sporting community.

‘Combating Homophobia and Transphobia in Sport’ takes place from 6-8pm at the Swift Theatre, Arts Building, Trinity College, this Friday, May 27. To book your free ticket to the event, click here.
