New Zealander Lorde has urged fans to wear rainbow colours and “kiss” after learning that the Westboro Baptist Church plan to picket her Kansas City show.
The 17 year-old Grammy winner warned fans that the Westboro Baptist Church, known for their extreme homophobia, intended to protest outside one of her US concerts. She tweeted, “hahaha omg just found out westboro baptist church are going to picket my show in kansas city. Everyone wear rainbow clothing to that show … try to kiss church members who are same sex as you. They will so love it. Christmas comin early in kansas [sic] ”
Shortly after, the singer deleted her tweets.
Westboro, commonly known as the ‘most hated family in America’, responded by tweeting:
@LordeMusic thinks rainbow colors & sexual harassment will change God’s judgment against fags? LOL #GodH8sFags

The group also made a parody version of Lorde’s hit song ‘Royals’ with new disturbing and hateful lyrics. They posted it to their official website.
Lorde made headlines earlier this month when she slammed an Australian DJ who made disrespectful and casually homophobic comments regarding her friendship with Taylor Swift.
