V Magazine is serving us some serious Pop Royalty on their summer issue – with two covers starring The Queen herself, Madonna, and pop princess Katy Perry.

Each cover shows only one of the stars in their full glory, but what glory it is! Both dressed in all black, Madonna, aged 55 (FIFTY-FIVE!), is wearing a satin-striped skirt with a leather jacket while Perry, 29, is dressed in a leather dress and is shown reaching for her pelt as Madonna stands above her. Showing her penchant for less-than-ordinary hair colour choices, the Roar singer wears her green-highlighted hair in voluminous curls.

The internet is buzzing with rumours that Madonna has “crowned her successor” in the S&M-themed pictorial, but the Material Girl mogul is going nowhere. She has recently been in the studio cooking up collaborations with the likes of Diplo, Aviccii and Natalia Kills. The tracks will likely feature on her as-yet-untitled 13th studio album, her second in a multi-million 360 deal with LiveNation.
