Ofcom Rejects Corrie Kiss Complaints

Coronation Street will not be investigated by UK television watchdog Ofcom, despite complaints about a saucy same-sex embrace shown last week.

The scene – which saw an amorous Todd (Bruno Langley) finally bag Marcus (Charlie Condou) after weeks of flirty pursuit – reportedly received 100 complaints to broadcasting regulator Ofcom. The pair enjoyed a passionate topless snog on the couch before heading into the bedroom.

However, an Ofcom spokesperson told the MailOnline, ‘Ofcom can confirm that it is not investigating the scene in Coronation Street as it was not in breach of generally accepted standards.

Our rules do not discriminate between scenes involving opposite sex and same sex couples.’

Unfortunately for all concerned, the storyline is unlikely to have a happy ending – Condou is set to leave the soap and will finish filming in early summer.
