The much loved new sign outside Pantibar in Dublin may get taken down only a mere few months after it was erected.
The Herald has reported that a warning letter was issued by Dublin City Council (DCC) shortly after the sign’s erection in March, after the city’s planning department received complaints that the sign breaches the bar’s planning permission.
A spokesperson confirmed that a warning was issued under Section 152 of the Planning Act and that the issue was being “actively pursued”.
The glitzy sign was first put up on March 19, with owner Panti Bliss proudly flaunting it on social media.
Too gay?

Panti Bliss, aka Rory O’Neill has yet to comment on the matter. The “accidental activist” and Irish drag icon will get the chance to argue his case with DCC. However, if DCC rules that it does indeed breach Pantibar’s planning permission, the sign will have to be taken down with the owner having to foot the bill for its removal.
End of a (very short) era…
