Panti Bliss, aka Rory O’Neill will appear at New York’s ‘St Pats For All’ Parade alongside NY Mayor, Bill de Blasio.
At the all inclusive event, Panti is set to hit the stage to reprise her impassioned speech on homophobia, which she delivered in early February at the Abbey Theatre. The event will take place at Irish Arts Centre.
“I’m absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to take part in the wonderfully inclusive St Pat’s For All parade in the diverse and welcoming borough of Queens, in the great city of New York,” said Panti. “This colourful and vibrant celebration really is for all – and I’m definitely one of the ‘all’!”
Co-Chair of St Pats For All, Brendan Fay, commented, “Many thanks to Executive Director Aidan Connolly and the Irish Arts Center for bringing Panti Bliss to the 2014 St Pats For All parade in New York City. Panti Bliss has inspired an international conversation on homophobia and hope.”
Earlier this month, Mayor Bill DeBlasio announced that he would not attend the annual St Patrick’s Day parade in Manhattan next month over the exclusion of LGBT groups.
