Panti Wins Attitude Award

Attitude Magazine have honoured Ireland’s own Panti Bliss, aka Rory O’Neill, with the Editor’s Special Award at the Attitude Awards 2014.

Ireland’s most famous drag queen won the award for her now famous Noble Call speech at the Abbey Theatre, which has now been viewed over 650,000 times on YouTube.

The speech came after RTÉ paid out a reported €85,000 in damages to journalist John Waters and members of the Iona Institute after O’Neill accused them of being homophobic while appearing on the Saturday Night Show.

Panti attended the London award ceremony last night, and was rubbing shoulders with the likes of Graham Norton, Stephen Fry and Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst. She kept Twitter followers updated regularly throughout the event.

Upon accepting the award, Panti’s acceptance speech warranted not one, but two standing ovations from the famous crowd.
