Pillow Queens release new material

We are being treated to a slew of exciting pop news this week as Little Mix, Pillow Queens and Robyn release new material!

Little Mix released their fierce new music video for their hit song Woman Like Me, featuring none other than rap royalty Nicki Minaj.

The empowering video starts off with the ladies in the back of a police van and then shows them slaying some chair choreography and dancing with books balanced on their heads.

Little Mix has always released empowering anthems that have been adopted by young women and the LGBT+ community, while band member Jade Thirwall works closely with LGBT+ charity Stonewall, being very vocal about her support of the queer community.

The British foursome released the single earlier this month and it went on to top the global iTunes chart, making them the first girl band ever to do so.

The group are set to release their fifth studio album LM5 on November 16, and they also recently announced their LM5 tour, which will be coming to Dublin and Belfast next year.

Meanwhile, Robyn has released new material for the first time in eight years.

Robyn Honey

Honey, which was released by the Swedish songstress today, has already occupied the number one spot on the US iTunes chart, beating out Lady Gaga’s and Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born soundtrack, while Fight The Fury’s new Still Breathing EP follows at number three.

The 39-year-old, returning with her signature synth-pop sound, is slaying the charts and wowing critics with her new material, with Rolling Stones Magazine describing it as “Robyn at her rawest and most distilled form.”

Robyn’s last album Body Talk was released in 2010 and featured electro-pop gems such as Call Your Girlfriend and  Dancing On My Own.

Pillow Queens are treating us to some homegrown pop-rock with their brand new single Gay Girls.

Recorded in Attica Studios in Donegal it was produced by Tommy McLaughlin, who has worked with artists such as Villagers, Soak and Bell X1.

The Dublin indie-rock band have been making waves across the Irish music scene and announced their end of year tour in September, featuring gigs in Whelan’s and the Workman’s Club.

In other music news, Ariana Grande fans are super excited about the announcement of the pop superstar’s Sweetener tour.
