Recently released members of Russian protest band Pussy Riot, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alyokhina, appeared on Brendan O’Connor’s Saturday Night Show on February 1.

The Pussy Riot members were arrested for their protest in which they performed a “punk prayer” at a cathedral in Moscow, which criticised Putin and his ties with the Orthodox church. They were convicted by a Russian court on a charge of hooliganism aggravated by religious hatred.

The members were released last month under amnesty proposed by Vladimir Putin.
