Russell Tovey – star of Being Human and Him & Her – recently gave an interview to PrideSource about the new season of Looking, his sex scenes with Jonathan Groff and introducing his mother to San Francisco’s gay scene.

As the second season of Looking approaches, Russell Tovey has been bumped up to cast regular in the San Francisco-based gay comedy-drama. His character Kevin was introduced as a love interest for Groff’s Patrick – instead of his own boyfriend, oop – and perhaps a bit of eye candy on the side. He enjoys how passionately people feel about the characters’ lives.

“People are really loyal to Kevin or Richie. They’re like, ‘Sorry – I really like you, Russell, but I’m Team Richie.’ ‘Kevin’s a cheat!’ ‘Leave Patrick alone!'” Tovey told PrideSource.

Speaking of the differences between his sex scenes with male co-stars and female co-stars, Tovey said:

“I’ve had sex scenes with girls, and I feel very relaxed because I’m not worried about anything popping up – I’m just worried about her world and making sure she’s comfortable. […] With Jonathan, doing these sex scenes just feels so cool. We’re such good mates now, and we laugh and we love doing our scenes together.”

People have a pretty strong reaction to Russell’s ass, and he isn’t that upset by it…

“God, I had a nice ass. Glad I got that out. If it’s there now, I’m getting it out because it’s not always gonna look like that. I don’t want to hide it. And it’s nice that people like it.”

Also, his mother seems adorable and fascinated by the places he is filming in San Francisco.

“I took my mom to Folsom Street Fair when I was filming. We hung out with drag queens, transgenders and people with HIV. I gave her the full education. She absolutely loved it!”
