ShoutOut is a community of volunteers and activists with the united goal of improving the lives of LGBT+ people by sharing their own stories and providing education through workshops in schools to students, teachers, parents and guardians as well as youth workers and in workplaces.

ShoutOut has been delivering workshops that tackle the topic of LGBT+ awareness and acceptance with the goal of ending LGBT+ bullying in secondary schools across Ireland since 2012.

Over 850 student workshops have been completed to date, with 462 of those workshops being held in 98 schools across Ireland last year, the organisation are now looking for new volunteers to help with the cause in both Dublin and Cork.

The role of a volunteer is ideal for those who want to give back to the LGBT+ community and have a lasting impact on the lives of young people while also having a great time. All are welcome to the volunteer training sessions which will equip the new trainees with the skills to provide workshops in schools across the country.

For those who are still wary about the idea of standing in front of a room full of people, do not fear! You will never be alone in delivering a workshop as volunteers are always sent in pairs with an experienced member of the team, so there is no need to worry.

Furthermore, there is no obligation to volunteer if you attend one of the training evenings so pop your head in if you have any interest in getting involved.

Volunteer training will take place in Dublin on Monday, September 16, from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM and will be held in the Central Hotel and the Cork training is being held on Wednesday, September 18, again from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM and will be hosted by Gay Project located at 4 South Terrace, Ballintemple, Cork.

Both groups promise a new and exciting experience with snacks provided, so what have you got to lose! For those interested, there is more information about both training days available on ShoutOut’s website or their Facebook page.
