Are you a fan of gymnastics? Maybe you find the physique of a diver irresistible? See what sports gay and bi men are planning to tune into this Olympics

The 2016 Rio Olympics are fast approaching, and we’ve got the low down on what sports gay and bi men will be tuning in to.

The 2016 Olympics are scheduled from the 5 – 21 August, with the opening ceremony due to take place this Saturday. But, which sports will you be tuning into.

Squirt have done a survey of gay men to see which sports they’ll be tuning into most. While you might think that the hunky, muscular look of the American gymnastics team would draw spectators from the gay community, gymnastics does not top the list.

Not All Sports Are Equal

“We surveyed gay and bi men to see how they are gearing up for the Games. Despite the interest in the Games overall, not all sports will be getting equal attention. Here’s a “peak” at the sports gay and bi men will be turning into during the Rio summer Games,” Squirt explains.

Topping the list, with 72% of gay and bi men tuning in is Swimming (individual) closely followed by Diving, at a few percent less (roughly 69%).

Below these top two, Athletics (track) and Swimming (relay) are coming in at approximately 58% and 56% respectively.

Coming in last is Handball, which only 7% of those surveyed have expressed interest in watching. Whether this is a testament to how interesting the sport is to watch or how revealing their outfits are is something that the Squirt survey did not get to the bottom of.

Take a look at the infographic below to see how your favourite sport racks up compared to the majority of gay and bi men.

City of Sport

Fernando Mereilles (Director of the internationally acclaimed film, City of God) will be teaming up with Andrucha Waddington and Daniela Thomas to bring us the opening ceremony for Rio 2016, turning Brazil’s capital into the City of Sport.

If the movie was anything to go by, we’re in for a treat with Rio’s opening ceremony
