Looking for a new way to stay active during Pride month? Well, we have an amazing campaign for you to partake in! Irish Life’s Step it to Stonewall Challenge is back, once again raising vital funds for local LGBTQ+ organisations.
Hosted on the MyLife health and wellbeing app, the challenge will take participants on a virtual journey through the LGBTQ+ capitals of the world, trying to step it all the way from Dublin to the famous Stonewall Inn in New York City.
After leaving Ireland’s capital, the first virtual stop will be Brighton before the journey continues to Amsterdam, Capetown, Taipei, Sydney, San Francisco and all the way to Rio de Janeiro. From Brazil, the last stop, the Stonewall Inn, is only a short hop away (virtually, at least).
From June 7 participants will have three weeks (until June 28) to track their steps, helping them to reach the destination.
Even better, everyone that manages to track 200,000 steps during the period automatically has the chance to win an Aer Lingus Voucher worth €1,000. So make sure to track your every step when attending different Pride parades in June!
Additionally, if participants manage to accomplish the challenge and reach NYC, Irish Life will donate €10,000 to Irish LGBTQ+ organisations. The donation will be divided between the four queer charities: LGBT Ireland, Belong To, ShoutOut and yours truly, GCN!
Hoping to gather even more participants than last year, when 3,300 people took part in the challenge, Irish Life is looking forward to running the Step it to Stonewall Challenge for the third year in a row, and GCN feels very fortunate to once again have been selected as one of the nominated Irish organisations.
Steps will be counted through the MyLife App, giving participants the chance to track their progress while running, walking or jogging. The MyLife App is available for download on the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Support GCN
GCN has been a vital, free-of-charge information service for Ireland’s LGBTQ+ community since 1988.
During this global COVID pandemic, we like many other organisations have been impacted greatly in the way we can do business and produce. This means a temporary pause to our print publication and live events and so now more than ever we need your help to continue providing this community resource digitally.
GCN is a registered charity with a not-for-profit business model and we need your support. If you value having an independent LGBTQ+ media in Ireland, you can help from as little as €1.99 per month. Support Ireland’s free, independent LGBTQ+ media.
