One of the most successful video game series of all time, The Sims, which has its fourth instalment being released this September, has rallied in support of LGBT relationships with a post on Twitter.

EA Games shared an image captioned ‘Be proud in The Sims 4’, depicting a diverse range of relationships to be available to players of the much-anticipated title, including same-sex marriages.

The Sims 4 has been classified as an ‘adult only’ rating in Russia for its depiction of same-sex relationships, which is against the country’s ‘Gay Propaganda’ law.

Other video games have been criticised for failing to include optional same-sex relationships – Nintendo recently being forced to issue an apology for excluding them from its Tomodachi Life title.
