Tom Daley has announces engagement to filmmaker Dustin Lance Black after a three year romance.

The 21 year-old Olympic diver announced that he is getting married to 41 year-old Oscar winner and activist Dustin Lance Black. The pair announced their engagement in a very traditional way – opting for an ad in The Times as opposed to a tweet or a YouTube video.

The notice in the births, marriages and deaths section read:

“The engagement is announced between Tom, son of Robert and Debra Daley of Plymouth, and Lance, son of Jeff Bisch of Philadelphia and Anne Bisch of Lake Providence.”

Tom Daley first came out via a YouTube video in 2013 – saying that he was in a relationship with a man. As months went on, it was revealed that his partner was Milk screenwriter, Dustin Lance Black.

It’s no surprise that the couple have taken their relationship to the next level. Tom Daley had previously revealed in an interview that he wants to settle down some day.

“Family is something that has always been really important to me and yes, at some point I would love to marry and have kids,” he said.
