Trans Community Furious Over Insensitive Caitlyn Jenner Halloween Costume For Sale On Amazon

Stonewall and other trans rights organisations have hit out at the infuriating costume which includes a wig and an Olympic runners outfit.

You can now find for £26 the so-called ‘I am Cait’ Halloween costume of Caitlyn Jenner on Amazon, it includes a brunette wig, USA sports top with Jenner’s Olympic number on the front, two plastic medals and blue shorts.

The product is promoted with the caption: “Show your love for Caitlyn Jenner with this awesome adult costume!”

It could be another idea of a costume if it was not for the terrible circumstances and insensitive mockery of the trans community.

The costume is far from ‘showing your love’, it makes a mokery of Caitlyn by using her pre-transition look and alos mocks the work that the trans community have done over the years for equality and human rights.

Transgender charities have since called for its immediate removal, highlighting that it takes a hit at the marginalised group.

Under the terrible circumstances that are happening in the USA recently with Trump’s decision against the  trans community,  it is a very bad form from Amazon to not moderate what can be sold on their website, if it makes fun of someone and of a whole community, it should not be allowed to be sold.

A Stonewall spokesman told the MailOnline: “This is a reminder of how much is left to do to combat the abuse trans people face every day.

“This costume reduces a marginalised group to the butt of a joke. It should be taken off the shelves.’

The Beaumont Society, a UK support group for the transgender community, also took aim at the costume.

President of Stonewall Dr Jane Hamlin said: “The transgender community has been getting quite a battering in the media recently because we would like to have autonomy over our own identities.

“We have become accustomed to insensitive mockery but had hoped that cisgender people had become tired of such stunts and realised that it is not funny.

“No-one chooses to be trans. I am disappointed that anyone would want to sell this, and hope that no-one will want to buy it.”

However, reviewers who bought the costume defended it.

One said: “You all rave about how inspiring she is… she has the courage to do it all… what a powerful public figure she is… WHY is it so offensive that people want to dress as a public figure?”

The costume is still being sold on Amazon but has since been removed from eBay.
