Trans Pride Northern Ireland (NI) will take place between September 4 to 13, with plenty of events and activities to enjoy.
Firstly, on September 4 there is a Queer Belfast Pop Culture Quiz at the Kitchen Sisters, Oliver Tree House, from 6pm to 9pm, along with a screening of the trans horror film I Saw the TV Glow in the Black Box at 7pm and a Sad Dyke Poetry Night at the same time in Paperxclips bookshop on 162 North Street.
The following day will start with a picnic walk at 12pm at Glencairn Park. Later, from 9pm until 2am that night, T4TB2B is hosting a Pride Party at the Oh Yeah Music Centre, describing the event on social media as “A hot FLINTA first intimate dancefloor and a banging sound system – where else would you be this September the 5th as we kick off Trans Pride week”. Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite.
Additionally, on September 7 there will be a trans café event at Happy Out Coffee at 6pm, and a placard-making event in collaboration with LGBTQ+ young women’s group, Here, starting 6:30pm on Waning Street.
Throughout Trans Pride, the Queen’s Film Theatre is screening various LGBTQ+ films, such as Glen or Glenda and Gender Troublemakers on September 6, Funeral Parade of Roses and The Death of Time As We Know It on September 7 and Castration Movie on September 11.
On September 9, Community Psychology Reclaimed are hosting a talk titled ‘Surviving Transphobia: A Liberation Psychology Approach’ at the LGBT Belfast Centre from 6pm to 8pm. Trans Pride NI explains, “Community Psychology Reclaimed explores what harm is being done to our community and how we survive it”. There will also be Rapid HIV and Syphilis testing available at the Centre.
The community gaming group, Battle Inc, are also hosting numerous events in collaboration with Trans Pride NI, including a Yu-Gi-Oh beginners event on September 10, a Magic the Gathering event on September 11 and an RPG event on September 13. The group expressed their solidarity with the trans community on social media, saying, “Battle Inc stands with our trans and non-binary community, not just during Trans Pride, but all year round. Everyone deserves a space to be themselves, make friends, play games and feel safe. Supporting trans rights isn’t political for us, it’s about people. It’s about knowing you belong here, no justification needed.”
Furthermore, don’t miss the chance to see the Trans Comedy Night by Coven Comedy Belfast at the Ulster Sports Club from 7pm. The stacked line-up of performers includes Alexa Moore, Rose Coogan, Ash Jones, drag king Hester Ectomy, Keighley Comedy, MJ Stokes, Jessie Fletcher and Jay Fitz. Tickets are £5 and can be booked via Glistrr.

The Trans Pride NI march and rally will take place at Writer’s Square on September 12 from 12pm to 5pm. Multiple speakers and performers have been announced for the rally, such as Fastback Frankie, Trana Del Rey and Tara Adams. After the rally, there are two parties you can celebrate at: Count Bella’s Drag Bingo and Mocktail Party at the Twin Spires and the Trans Pride Official After Party at the Maverick.
Trans Pride NI will officially end on September 13 with an Art Market at the Oh Yeah! Music Centre from 3pm to 6pm and a comedy show called ‘Summit at Mount Doom’ presented by Dolly Bearton at the Black Box at 7pm. They state on social media: “Join the shadow council, watch six comedians pitch their devious gay agenda and vote for who should become the new head of the LGBTQ+ conspiracy!” There will also be a trans only swimming event at the end of the month, September 27, which can be registered for through the email [email protected].
