What even is a demon twink? The slang term is described as “a young, slim man (a twink) who lacks emotional grounding, acts chaotic or bratty in public, and behaves in an unbothered, wild, or maliciously flippant manner”. Now, what if that demon twink was a literal demon? That’s exactly what we get with Steven George’s horror-comedy short film, aptly called Demon Twink.
Middle-aged Dante, already a cheeky wink to the audience as the type of camp experience that will unfold, is a late bloomer who yearns for connection but feels held back by his age and looks. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily for Dante, his wish is granted by the titular ‘Demon Twink’.
After entering a portal through a glory hole in the Abbey bathroom, Dante is transformed into a young, attractive man. But this comes with a terrible price: every full moon, Dante must sacrifice a gay man to satisfy his Demon Twink’s bloodlust and to retain his youthful appearance.
It’s a Faustian tale told against the backdrop of the superficial stigma surrounding the gay community and hookup culture.

“At its core the real horror of Demon Twink is time. Dante came out later in life and because of that he feels like there is a void he needs to feel within himself. Deep down he wants love, but convinces himself that he doesn’t,” writer/director Steven George explains, on what lies beneath the surface of the short.
After a successful shoot, a fundraising campaign was launched by George and producer Chris Stanley, an online content creator known in the community for his vox pop-style street interviews. The money raised was used to contribute to the edit.
Created as a proof of concept for a feature film, Stanley hopes to make a big splash with the project “to bring Queer horror to the mainstream for everyone to enjoy, not just the gays.”
Filled with gory practical effects, SFX makeup, trippy lighting, unique visuals and references to classics such as Nosferatu and Night of the Living Dead, the short is sure to keep horror fans pleased.
Holding an IMDb score of 7.9 and an impressive 128,000 views on YouTube, Demon Twink is not just a pretty face, but a successful and insightful look at the fixation surrounding physical appearance and sexual desire within the queer world. George describes the film’s central theme as “how our obsession with things like youth, beauty and sex can get in the way of forming more meaningful, deeper relationships with one another.”
Released in June of this year, the short is ready and waiting to become a new Halloween classic, and would make an excellent pairing with other queer horror mainstays such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show or Bride of Chucky.
