This weekend, Jennifer Lopez accepted the iconic Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media Awards, for her contribution to promoting equal rights for LGBT people.
The 44 year-old became an executive producer of ABC’s acclaimed family drama, The Fosters, after being inspired by her lesbian aunt who had recently died.
The Fosters was highly praised for it’s portrayal of LGBT themes, and also picked up the GLAAD Award for Outstanding Drama series on the night.
In her speech, J.Lo said, “I’ve always felt a tremendous love for the LGBT community, and the LGBT community has always supported me and returned that love.”
Past winners include Drew Barrymore, Liza Minnelli, Elizabeth Taylor and Antonio Banderas.
