Yesterday, Kim Kardashian became the first of the Kardashian/Jenner clan to speak about Bruce Jenner’s much-speculated about transition.
Kim Kardashian gave an exclusive interview with Matt Lauer for American TV show Today, becoming the first of the family to publicly speak about it, besides their supportive tweets which were sent out on Friday night.
Kanye’s missus said she is “really happy for [Bruce Jenner] that he is living his life the way he wants to live it and that he has found inner peace and just pure happiness.”
Linda Thompson, Bruce’s ex-wife and the mother of his sons, wrote an op-ed yesterday about her life with Bruce and how he revealed his gender dysphoria to her.
“I don’t know what life would be like if you always felt like you weren’t yourself. And I know it’s not something that you or I could really fully understand, but I don’t even think we have to. I think as long as he is happy, and he wants to live his life however he wants to live it, that just makes me happy, and I support him 100%,” Kardashian West told Lauer.
She told Lauer that the family has taken steps to ensure they’re being conscientious and supportive of Bruce, getting in contact with GLAAD and asking about his preferred pronouns.
Speaking of being thrust into the spotlight for such a personal aspect of his life, she said: “I think he is ready for the challenge and ready to help other people’s lives that might be going through the same things that he’s going through, and that’s something that he’s really proud of. And something that he is really ready to take on. And I’m really proud of him for that.”
At least publicly, the family seems very supportive, which is wonderful.
