‘Orange is the New Black’ star Samira Wiley delivered a moving acceptance speech after she was awarded the Human Rights Campaign’s ‘Visibility Award’ last week.
Every year, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) awards a prominent member of the LGBT community the Visibility Award. Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey Washington in the Netflix series, came out last year when she announced publicly that she was in a relationship with Orange is the New Black writer, Lauren Morelli.
Previous winners of the Visibility Award include filmmakers Lee Daniels and Lana Wachowski.
