In the midst of a gay culture that can sometimes fester femmephobia and toxic masculinity, we have been blessed by Troye Sivan with a gay anthem for bottoms.

The Australian/South-African singer managed to break the internet again with the release of the second song, ‘Bloom’, from his new album.

In ‘Bloom’, fans have theorised that Sivan takes on the role of the receptive partner losing their virginity. Sivan has previously said that the song is about flowers telling Dazed  – all tongue in cheek – that “It’s 100 percent about flowers! That’s all it is. Call it whatever you wanna call it. I wanna play that song at every Pride. There’s almost a radicalism in just truth, you know? The most radical thing that I can do is share how happy I am.”

Troye released a teaser video 2 days ago in which he sits on the side of a bed while a man is lying in the bed. He simply says “It’s about flowers.”

The lyric video was released this morning, it was animated by 3D and visual artist, Jason Ebeyer, who said that internet culture, fashion, erotica and technology inspire him. Ebeyer describes his work as “combining elements from different sources to create vivid scenes which are sometimes an explosion of colour and other times dark hallucinogenic dreams.”

Here are some of the lyrics of Bloom:

“Cause it’s true, babe I been saving this for you, baby (I need you to) Tell me right before it goes down (Promise me you’ll) Hold my hand if I get scared now (Might tell you to) Take a second baby slow it down”

After #BLOOM trended number 1 on Twitter, Troye tweeted #BopsForBottoms, confirming that the song is indeed about bottoming and fans rejoiced making #BopsForBottoms trend even after Troye deleted the tweet.

If that doesn’t confirm it surely his use of the hibiscus emoji with every tweet gives it away… Look like anything to you?
